Short introduction

Karate is more than just a sport - it is a way to develop both body and mind. It combines movement, discipline, and respect, and can be practiced by people of all ages.

Karate (空手道, Karate-dō) is a Japanese martial art focused on self-defense. Techniques use different parts of the body such as hands, feet, elbows, and knees. The goal is not only strength, but also control, timing, and precision.

Karate originated on the island of Okinawa in Japan and has spread all over the world. Today, millions of people practice it regularly.
In Japanese, "kara" (空) means empty, "te" (手) means hand, and "dō" (道) means way. Together, karate-dō can be understood as "the way of the empty hand".
